Sinterklaas came to our house

Who is Sinterklaas? He is the Dutch Santa Claus and he visits the Netherlands on the 6th of December. He isn't like the traditional Santa Claus that we know. He doesn't come bearing lots of toys for the children, just lots of yummy snacks. On St. Nicholas Eve (the 5th), before the children go to bed, they put there wooden shoes by the fireplace or heater, and oats for Sinterklaas' horse. When they wake up in the morning they find candy and nuts in there shoes and then the rest of the day is spent with family and eating a big feast at night. Tyler's grandparents immigrated from Holland and so that is why we celebrate this Dutch tradition. I love that we can now do it with our children and I hope that they can carry it on to theirs. Our shoes last night with the oats for the horse.
This morning. The girls discovered it before they even came to wake me up. Our Sinterklaas brought them a small little toy to. We got some yummy windmill cookies and Nutella among other little snacks.

We do have two shoes for Ella but somehow it has gotten lost somewhere in our house and we just cant' seem to find it. Sinterklaas still gave her just as much.
